2011 AGM: This year's Annual General Meeting was held at Newton Valence Sports & Social Club on Monday 19th December 2011. The chairman, Ian Cargill reported that the club membership had increased over the last year and that 2012, Olympics year will be a time to capitalise on a renewed interest in competitive cycling. The full minutes, with all committee member reports are available here.

2011 Track Championships: This year's track championships were held at Calshot velodrome on Saturday, 17th December. The trophy was closely contested by Alton CC members but was won convincingly by Mike Hayward. Photos of the event are here and can be seen under the Photo Galleries tab.

The annual Dinner & Prize Presentation event has been booked for Saturday 25th February 2012, again at the Alton Grange Hotel, The menu will be circulated in the New Year. The events calendar for 2012 is now available and includes the Hilly 50km and the Open 25 mile time trials as well as a new event over the the Candover H19/11 course.

Roller Racing Next Event 16th January: The competition is called the Roller Omnium Trophy, with free entry. A trophy will be awarded to the winner at the Prize Giving dinner in February. There will be three events: fastest 500m, fastest 1000m, and a matched sprint over 500m. In the fastest 500m & 1000m, the best 2 out of 3 times will count, in case anyone misses a week. One competitor at a time will be timed. The fastest rider over their 2 qualifying times earns 1 point, second-fastest 2 points etc. The matched sprint is a knock-out contest. All competitors will race against all others in order to give everyone a placing and award points, 1 for 1st etc. The competitor with the lowest combined points score will be the Roller Omnium Trophy winner. In the event of a tie for first place, the competitor with the fastest time over 500m will be the winner. Dates: Fastest 500m & 1000m: 19th Sept, 17th Oct & 21st Nov 2011. Matched sprint: 16th Jan 2012.

Hill Climb Results:The Alton CC Hill Climb was held on Sunday, 16thOctober on Brightstone Lane, Farringdon. The conditions were good, chilly but bright with sunshine and there were 10 competitors. Dan Montgomerie put in a storming performance and was again the champion with a time of 3 minutes 40.7 seconds. Adam Bell finished second and Shaun Blow was third. Track Sessions Organised: We will be holding track sessions at Calshot velodrome from October to February. The dates are published on the Events Calendar page. Please get in touch through the Contacts page if you are interested and have not already received Alan's email. Numbers permitting, riders from other clubs are also very welcome and can ask for details through the Contacts page.

Alton Cycling Club has been promoting all forms of cycling for over 30 years and in doing so caters for both serious and social cyclists of all ages.

Our cycling club is sponsored by Owens Cycles who maintain a stock of club kit at their Four Marks Store. Club members enjoy a 10% discount on all purchases from Owens Cycles.

We promote two open events, a hilly 50km and a 25mile time trial, as well as a series of evening club time trials for club members and other riders. Club members compete in time trials and in road races organised by the LVRC and British Cycling. We also organise track riding sessions at Calshot Activity Centre during the winter months.

For social and club riding we always support CTC North Hampshire with whom we have close ties. They organise rides for most weekends of the year with social rides going from Alton Community Centre on Saturdays and mid-paced and faster rides going from Alton Butts on Sunday mornings. Alton CC club nights are held on the third Monday of each month starting at 7:30pm at Newton Valence village hall. Everyone is welcome! We also hold a BBQ an annual Dinner and Prize Presentation.
